Chester Cathedral first began as a medieval monastrey in 1092. In 1541 it became the the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Continual change has always occured at the Chester Cathedral, but materials from each Century since the 10th have been left. Knowledgeable guides offer tours explaining the pertienent history, pointing out certain architectural aspects, and describing much of the Religious significance of the Cathedral. Please note tours must be booked in advance. Active worship continues on the premises, organ recitals are preformed weekly and special events occur throughout the year.
